It doubles as C.G.L.E’s Varietal Garden, with a multitude of exotic and experimental varietals planted like patchwork across the landscape. Sudan rume is an exotic varietal that is extremely difficult to cultivate. Once Cafe Granja was able to source the seed stock, it was planted at Las Margaritas where the growers were happy to discover that it was ideally suited to the climate and conditions of the area. Before this varietal was brought to Las Margaritas, multiple soil studies were done to find the best conditions and optimal elevation for growing.
