Hario Switch

Temperature
94°C (201°F)
Ratio
1:16 (15g coffee : 240g water)
Grind
≈30 clicks on 1Zpresso J (medium-fine)
Grind Adjustment

if sour: go 2–3 clicks finer; if bitter: go 2–3 clicks coarser

Brewing Steps
  1. 1. Bloom with 30g water for 30 seconds
  2. 2. Pour to 150g by 1:00 timing (steady spiral pour), give a gentle stir
  3. 3. Pour to 240g by 1:40, place lid and let steep until 2:30
  4. 4. At 2:30 flip the switch to drain (aim for total contact ≈2:30). Serve immediately
Pro Tips
  • 💡 Use the Switch as intended — fully immerse during bloom and pours, then flip to drain at the planned time to control extraction cleanly.
  • 💡 Key factor: consistent pour rate and even saturation. Gentle stir after the first pour helps release gases from very fresh roasts and evens extraction.
Troubleshooting

Sour → grind slightly finer (2–3 clicks finer), increase brew temperature by 1–3°C or lengthen contact by 15–30s. Bitter → grind slightly coarser (2–3 clicks coarser), reduce contact time by 15–30s or lower temperature by 1–3°C.
