Hario Switch

Temperature
92°C (198°F)
Ratio
1:15 (15g coffee : 225g water)
Grind
1Zpresso J — ~30 clicks (medium‑fine; slightly finer than standard pour‑over)
Grind Adjustment

if sour: grind 2–4 clicks finer and/or increase temp 1–2°C and/or lengthen steep by 20–30s, if bitter: grind 2–4 clicks coarser and/or reduce temp 2–4°C and/or shorten steep by 20–30s

Brewing Steps
  1. 1. Bloom with 35g water for 30 seconds
  2. 2. Pour to 150g by 0:45, give a gentle stir (3 slow swirls) to wet grounds evenly
  3. 3. Pour to 225g by 1:15, close lid and let steep until 1:45, then flip the Switch to drain and allow ~20–30s to finish
  4. 4. Total time ~2:15–2:30. Serve immediately (decant into cup) for best clarity
Pro Tips
  • 💡 Best technique: use the Switch as an immersion brewer — fully wet grounds on the bloom, keep agitation gentle, then steep before flipping for clean body and clarity.
  • 💡 Key factor: grind consistency and timing — small click changes (2–4 clicks) on the J plus ±10–20s steep will noticeably shift extraction; keep water temp steady at ~92°C for a fresh, medium roast.
Troubleshooting

Sour → grind finer by 2–4 clicks, raise temp by 1–2°C, or add 20–30s to steep. Bitter → grind coarser by 2–4 clicks, lower temp by 2–4°C, or shorten steep and reduce agitation.
