Hario Switch

Temperature
94°C (201°F)
Ratio
1:16 (15g coffee : 240g water)
Grind
1Zpresso J ~30 clicks (medium-fine — texture like fine sea salt, suited for Hario Switch immersion)
Grind Adjustment

if sour: go 2–3 clicks finer; if bitter: go 2–3 clicks coarser

Brewing Steps
  1. 1. Bloom with 30g water for 30 seconds (pulse pour to fully wet grounds, gently stir if needed).
  2. 2. Pour steadily to 150g total by 1:00 (use a slow circular pour to wet evenly).
  3. 3. Final pour to 240g by 1:30, give one gentle stir, close lid and let steep undisturbed until 2:30; then place the Switch on your cup and open the valve to drain (~20–30s).
  4. 4. Total time ~3:00 (2:30 steep + ~30s drain); serve immediately.
Pro Tips
  • 💡 Make full use of the Switch: keep the valve closed for a clean immersion and open fully to drain — avoids channeling common with pour-over.
  • 💡 Consistency matters: weigh dose and pours, use a steady pour and uniform grind; adjust only one variable at a time (grind, temp, or time).
Troubleshooting

Sour → grind 2–3 clicks finer, raise water temp 1–2°C, or increase steep by 15–30s. Bitter → grind 2–3 clicks coarser, lower temp 2°C, or shorten steep/drain time; also check for overextraction from too-fine grind or too-hot water.
