From the misty highlands of Colombia’s Tolima state comes a coffee kissed by altitude and tradition. Grown by seven smallholder farmers in the rugged hills of China Alta, these beans flourish between 1800–2000m above sea level. The region, named after the shimmering Rio La China, is a haven of sugarcane fields, trout pools, and now, sweet, vibrant coffee groves. Though a newer crop to this land, coffee has thrived—nurtured by heirloom Caturra trees, fertile soil, and age-old farming wisdom. Each bean is handpicked with care, tended by families who honour the rhythms of the land. Pesticides are rare, weeds are pulled by hand, and fertilisation follows the seasons. China Alta also sits on the ancestral lands of the Pijao people, whose spirit still echoes through the valleys, especially during the ‘Pijao New Year’ each June 21st. This coffee is more than a morning brew—it's a journey through lush mountains, living heritage, and the quiet magic that happens when altitude meets intention. C
