Brewing Guides

Hario Switch

Temperature
92°C (198°F)
Ratio
1:16 (15g coffee : 240g water)
Grind
1Zpresso J ≈ 30 clicks (medium-fine)
Grind Adjustment

if sour: grind 2–4 clicks finer, raise temp 1–2°C or increase contact time slightly; if bitter: grind 2–4 clicks coarser, lower temp 1–2°C or shorten contact time

Brewing Steps
  1. 1. Bloom with 45g water for 30 seconds
  2. 2. Pour to 150g by 1:15 (use steady, circular pours; briefly stir to ensure full saturation)
  3. 3. Pour to 240g by 1:45, stir gently at 1:50 and cover to steep
  4. 4. At 3:00 switch to drain and pour into cup; total contact time ~3:00–3:30, serve immediately
Pro Tips
  • 💡 For Hario Switch use even, controlled pours and a gentle single stir after each full-fill to encourage balanced extraction and preserve the bright lime/blackcurrant notes.
  • 💡 Key factor: maintain consistent grind and temperature; if you want more fruit brightness, slightly finer grind or +1–2°C; to emphasize chocolate sweetness, slightly coarser grind or shorten contact time.
Troubleshooting

Sour → grind finer 2–4 clicks, increase brew temperature 1–2°C, or extend contact time by 15–30s. Bitter → grind coarser 2–4 clicks, reduce temperature 1–2°C, or shorten contact time by 15–30s.
