Hario Switch

Temperature
92°C (198°F)
Ratio
1:15 (15g : 225g water)
Grind
≈30 clicks on 1Zpresso J — medium‑fine (similar to fine sea salt)
Grind Adjustment

if sour: grind finer (+2–4 clicks) and/or raise temp 2°C; if bitter: grind coarser (−2–4 clicks) and/or shorten steep time

Brewing Steps
  1. 1. Bloom with 30g water for 30 seconds
  2. 2. Pour to 150g by 0:50 (slow, concentric pour avoiding the walls)
  3. 3. Pour remaining water to 225g by 1:30, give a gentle 3–4s stir, cover and let steep until 2:15 then flip the Switch to drain
  4. 4. Open the Switch to drain and serve immediately — total brew time ≈2:15 (acceptable range 2:00–2:30)
Pro Tips
  • 💡 Use the Switch as an immersion brewer: keep the lid on during steep to retain heat and flip to drain only when the full steep time is reached.
  • 💡 Because this is a dark roast, shorter contact time and a slightly coarser setting than for lighter roasts help avoid harsh bitterness—focus on consistent pour speed and temperature.
Troubleshooting

Sour → grind finer by 2–4 clicks, increase water temp 2–3°C or extend steep by 15–30s. Bitter → grind coarser by 2–4 clicks, lower temp 2–3°C or shorten steep/drain earlier.
