Ethiopia | Guji Siko Natural

Ethiopia | Guji Siko Natural

by St. Ali Coffee Roasters

West Guji region in Ethiopia is known for its rich, volcanic soils and high altitudes, the perfect conditions for quality coffee growing. While Ethiopia is long renowned as a coffee origin, the region of Guji is relatively recent compared to its neighbouring Sidamo and Yirgacheffe regions. This new-ness is part of Guji’s secret to its success, compared to its neighbours the coffee plants are young and productive and its processing facilities and equipment are modern, allowing for the careful, clean techniques needed for extremely high quality coffee.  Siko Washing Station is served by over 500 local smallholders who selectively hand-pick coffee cherries at peak ripeness when they are packed full of naturally occurring sugars, leading to an irresistibly sweet cup full of jammy berry notes and delicate florals.
