Ethiopia, Tibebu Roba, Natural

by Mok

In the Gedeb region in Yirgacheffe lies the extensive coffee farm of Tibebu Roba, which spans 8298 hectares at an altitude of 1985 to 2000 masl. The high elevation and red loam soil provide an excellent coffee climate for coffee cultivation. Tibebu Roba grows local varieties and treats his plants and soil with a respect for and understanding of nature. He uses self-made compost and although not certified as organic, practices responsible farming methods only. This lot is a naturally processed heirloom that was harvested from November through January and dried on raised beds on the farm afterwards. As a child, Tibebu Roba learned about coffee through his father, but it was not until his college years that he wanted to become a producer, as he stumbled upon the land that would later become his farm. Now, 40 years later, his dedication has earned him several accolades and money prizes. For the second year in a row we sourced this coffee through our importing partner Trabocca.
