While not one of Indonesia’s largest producing islands, its unique geography and history offer a lesser-known coffee that has the ability to shine on its own with the right care. Despite its small size, Flores is home to mountain chains and active volcanoes, which can be a blessing for the fertile lands but have also wrought devastation on infrastructure and communities. Traditionally, coffee is only known as a low-end commodity to the island’s locals.
